Reactivity and job satisfaction at a new workplace

Abstract

Job satisfaction is an attitude towards job. It contains two aspects: cognitive evaluations and affective components. The cognitive aspect is considered here as overall job satisfaction and satisfaction with seven job facets. The affective aspect is composed of four dimensions of mood at work: emotional balance, frequency of positive and negative emotions, and mood variability. 97 bank employees working at their new workplace were investigated with: Pavlovian Temperament Survey (reactivity); Work Description Inventory (cognitive dimensions); Time Sampling Diary (affective dimensions). Reactivity influences the whole structure of job satisfaction of employees at a new workplace – it affects the level of some dimensions and links between the considered dimensions.
