Abstract
Previous studies have shown that there might be a positive, a negative or no signifi cant relationship between job satisfaction and life satisfaction. What the kind of relationship depends on has not been established so far. In our study we verify whether and how this relationship is associated with the competencies possessed and their adjustment to the requirements of work environment. The study was an online survey. It covered college graduates working in Poland. The declared level of different types of competences, both possessed and required, as well as various types of fi t/match: organizational, educational and the new, not yet measured in psychological research competencies adjustment were assessed. Several different measures of job satisfaction (cognitive and affective aspect) and well-being (Work Description Inventory, Job Affect Scale and Satisfaction With Life Scale) were used. The purpose of this article was to describe the role of various types of workers fi t to the post and work environment, their soft skills (personal, social) and the relationship of these variables with job and life satisfaction. It has been shown which system of tested variables fosters a positive relationship between job and life satisfaction (spillover hypothesis), which is associated with a negative relationship between these two variables (compensation hypothesis), and how the system of measured variables is associated with no relationship between job and life satisfaction (segmentation hypothesis). The obtained results have allowed us to conclude that for job and life satisfaction more important than the possessed soft skills are a person’s organization adjustment and possession of competencies that are required in their work.Author | |||||
